Bayer and America’s Grow-a-Row Expand Food Insecurity Efforts with 662,000 Servings of Fresh Produce

Bayer (USOTC:BAYRY) has continued its partnership with nonprofit organisation America’s Grow-a-Row in 2026, supporting efforts to address food insecurity across the United States through employee volunteering and financial contributions.

More than 200 Bayer employees participated in harvesting activities on August 27 and October 1, collecting 165,500 pounds of fresh produce, equivalent to approximately 662,000 servings.

The initiative forms part of a collaboration that has delivered 5.5 million servings of fresh produce to communities facing food insecurity.

Bayer Fund Contributions Exceed $500,000 Since 2020

Since 2020, Bayer Fund, the company’s US philanthropic arm, has provided more than $500,000 in grants to America’s Grow-a-Row.

The funding supports the nonprofit’s activities in growing, harvesting and distributing fresh fruits and vegetables to families and individuals with limited access to nutritious food.

Trevor Thrun, President of Bayer’s US Consumer Health business, said the partnership reflected the company’s broader commitment to community health and nutrition.

“Through this partnership, Bayer has contributed 5.5 million servings of fresh produce to families in need to-date,” Thrun said.

He described the collaboration as an example of how businesses and nonprofit organisations can work together to support local communities.

Employee Volunteers Harvest 165,500 Pounds of Produce

Bayer employees from its New Jersey and Pennsylvania operations participated in two volunteer events during 2026.

The activities generated 165,500 pounds of produce for distribution through food banks, food pantries and soup kitchens.

During the October event alone, employees harvested 140,000 pounds of winter squash, representing approximately 560,000 servings.

Susan Anderson, Director of Philanthropy and Community Impact at Bayer, said the volunteer programme provided employees with an opportunity to contribute directly to local food assistance efforts.

The harvested produce will support distribution programmes serving communities across the region.

America’s Grow-a-Row Expands Food Distribution Network

Founded in 2002, America’s Grow-a-Row operates on 423 acres of preserved farmland in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.

The organisation expects to distribute approximately 4.3 million pounds of fresh produce in 2026, compared with just 120 pounds during its first season.

Working with food banks and hunger relief agencies, the nonprofit distributes fruits and vegetables throughout New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia and surrounding areas.

Its programmes reach communities across all 21 New Jersey counties and include free farm markets and nutrition education initiatives.

Outlook for Bayer’s Community Partnership

Bayer’s continued collaboration with America’s Grow-a-Row highlights its investment in community nutrition and food security programmes alongside its healthcare and agricultural businesses.

With more than $500,000 in grants provided since 2020 and 5.5 million servings of produce contributed, the partnership represents an established component of Bayer’s US community engagement activities.

The companies have not disclosed specific financial commitments or volunteering targets for 2027.
