Opera (NASDAQ:OPRA) announced that its PC browsers reached 100 million monthly active users in October 2026, surpassing the milestone for the first time as the company continued expanding its desktop browser audience.
The figure represents a 16% increase from the previous year, equivalent to approximately 14 million additional monthly active users over the 12-month period.
Opera said its PC browser audience now accounts for more than one-third of its total monthly user base of nearly 290 million people across desktop and mobile platforms.
PC Browser Users Increase by 14 Million
Opera’s desktop browser portfolio reached 100 million monthly active users in October, marking a new milestone for the company.
The 16% year-over-year increase reflects the addition of approximately 14 million monthly users compared with October 2025.
With nearly 290 million people using Opera browsers across desktop and mobile devices each month, PC users now represent more than one-third of the company’s overall audience.
The company has focused its desktop browser development and distribution efforts on Europe and North America, where browsers pre-installed on computers account for a substantial share of the market.
Opera’s strategy involves offering alternative browser products with different features and functionality for specific groups of users.
Opera Maintains Four PC Browser Products
Opera’s PC browser portfolio includes four products designed for different browsing preferences and requirements.
Opera One serves as the company’s general-purpose desktop browser, while Opera GX focuses on users interested in gaming-related features.
Opera Air is another product within the company’s desktop portfolio, and Opera Neon is designed around artificial intelligence-powered browsing capabilities.
The company has continued developing these products as part of its efforts to attract and retain desktop users.
Opera did not disclose individual monthly active user figures for each browser or specify how much each product contributed to the overall increase.
AI Features Added Across Desktop Browser Portfolio
Over the past year, Opera has introduced several artificial intelligence-related capabilities across its PC browsers.
One of these features, Browser Connector, allows users to share information about their browsing context with external AI assistants, including ChatGPT and Claude.
The functionality is intended to enable AI assistants to use relevant browser information when responding to user requests.
Opera has also introduced WebAI, a feature that allows websites and browser extensions to run artificial intelligence models locally on users’ devices.
Unlike systems that process AI requests through remote cloud infrastructure, WebAI is designed to perform supported processing directly on the user’s computer.
According to Opera, this approach allows requests to be handled without transmitting them to cloud-based servers for model processing.
WebAI requires users to activate the functionality and grant permission before websites can access locally available AI models.
The company did not provide figures showing how many users have adopted Browser Connector or WebAI.
Opera Focuses on Europe and North America
Opera said its desktop browser strategy has placed particular emphasis on Europe and North America.
These markets are characterized by the widespread use of browsers installed by default on personal computers.
Opera competes for users by providing browser alternatives with differentiated features, including gaming-oriented functionality and integrated AI capabilities.
The company’s portfolio approach allows it to address several categories of desktop users through separate products.
The announcement did not include regional user growth figures or market share estimates for Opera’s PC browsers.
Management Comments on User Milestone
Krystian Kolondra, Executive Vice President of Browsers and AI at Opera, commented on the company’s achievement.
“We’re humbled to see more and more people choosing Opera as their preferred browser on PC,” Kolondra said.
“After 30 years of building browsers, we feel we’re just getting started.”
Opera was founded in Norway in 1995 and has operated in the browser market for more than three decades.
The company is listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange under the ticker OPRA.
