lululemon Unveils Ventscape Run Vest Designed to Improve Comfort During Cold-Weather Running

lululemon (NASDAQ:LULU) has introduced its new Ventscape PrimaLoft ThermoPlume+ Run Vest, designed to regulate body temperature during cold-weather running, with a global launch scheduled to begin in December 2026.

The athletic apparel company unveiled the product at the 2026 China International Import Expo, highlighting its patent-pending construction that combines insulation with strategically positioned mesh panels to balance warmth and ventilation.

The vest is designed to respond to changes in runners’ activity levels, helping maintain thermal comfort without requiring frequent adjustments to clothing layers.

New Technology Combines Insulation and Ventilation

Ventscape uses PrimaLoft ThermoPlume+ insulation to provide warmth at the beginning of a run, while mesh ventilation panels allow excess heat and moisture to escape as physical exertion increases.

According to lululemon, the design creates airflow around the body, helping regulate the temperature and humidity inside the garment as running intensity changes.

The company said the technology was developed to address common challenges associated with cold-weather exercise, including overheating, perspiration and the need to remove or add layers.

“Our Ambassadors expressed a common theme of how running in cold weather creates peaks and dips related to thermal discomfort. We wanted to create a solution that allows runners to embrace the weather and not view it in a negative way,” said Chantelle Murnaghan, Vice President of Research and Product Innovation at lululemon.

Product Tested Across 2,500 Kilometres

The Ventscape vest underwent more than 250 hours of testing across 2,500 kilometres in laboratory and outdoor environments.

Development included computer modelling, thermal simulations and mannequin testing to evaluate insulation performance under windy conditions and simulated running speeds.

lululemon also worked with its athlete ambassadors throughout the design process, incorporating feedback on fit, ventilation and overall comfort.

Contributors included ultrarunner Leah Yingling, Olympic middle-distance runner Nikki Hiltz and seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton.

The athletes participated in prototype testing, including evaluations in the company’s cold chamber and outdoor running conditions.

“With Ventscape, I can go from start to finish on runs without thinking. Having a single layer I don’t need to pack away is huge,” Yingling said.

Hamilton also highlighted the vest’s ability to adapt to changes in running intensity, reducing the need to adjust clothing during exercise.

Global Launch Planned for December 2026

lululemon plans to introduce the Ventscape Run Vest globally beginning in December 2026, expanding its range of technical running apparel.

The launch reflects the company’s continued investment in product development and performance-focused clothing, particularly garments designed to address specific challenges experienced by athletes.

Ventscape adds to lululemon’s portfolio of running products as the company seeks to differentiate its offerings through fabric technology, functional design and athlete-led testing.
