U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.5% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 dropped 0.1% in morning trading. Uniper added 10% and Billerud rose 9.9%. On the other hand, Nokian Renkaat lost 14.2%, and NEL slipped 8.4%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France’s CAC 40 decreased 0.2% and Germany’s DAX was flat.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index climbed 0.1% to 100.53.
In commodities, Brent crude fell 0.3% to $86.87 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.5% to $83.34 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 1 basis point to 2.833% from 2.827%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 2 basis points to 4.845% from 4.826%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were up as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 0.7%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.5%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 0.4%
