U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.2% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.3%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.5% in morning trading. Dr. Martens rose 4% and Uniper added 3.5%. On the other hand, Oersted sunk 18.4%, and Skanska Series B dropped 12.5%. The FTSE 100 added 0.4%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.6% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.5%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 100.94.
In commodities, Brent crude gained 0.6% to $85.55 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 0.5% to $81.46 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 4 basis points to 2.85% from 2.814%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury declined by 2 basis points to 4.917% from 4.934%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index climbed 2.4%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng fell 0.1%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 0.1%.
