US Futures, European Stocks Rise Ahead of BOE Rate Decision

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.4% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.9% in morning trading. Scatec rose 16% and Atos added 10.7%. On the other hand, Netcompany Group lost 6.1%, and Entain dropped 4.3%. The FTSE 100 added 0.8%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.9% and Germany’s DAX rose 0.9%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index dropped 0.2% to 100.48.

In commodities, Brent crude rose 1.4% to $85.85 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 1.5% to $81.67 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield fell by 3 basis points to 2.739% from 2.766%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 1 basis point to 4.742% from 4.734%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index climbed 1.1%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 0.8%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite fell 0.5%.
