U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.2% in morning trading. Idorsia added 9% and Ryanair Holdings rose 5.8%. On the other hand, Aroundtown sunk 4%, and Intl Distribution Svcs slipped 3.8%. The FTSE 100 added 0.2%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 gained 0.3% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.2%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index dropped 0.2% to 99.26.
In commodities, Brent crude rose 1.1% to $85.85 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 1.3% to $81.55 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 4 basis points to 2.683% from 2.648%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 7 basis points to 4.589% from 4.519%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were up as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 2.4%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 1.7%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 0.9%.
