U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.3% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.5% in morning trading. Orpea added 690.3% and Siemens Energy rose 4.4%. On the other hand, Alstom lost 8.6%, and Alcon fell 7.4%. The FTSE 100 added 1%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 gained 0.6% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.3%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 98.85.
In commodities, Brent crude was flat at $82.48 a barrel, and WTI crude was flat at $78.23 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield declined by 2 basis points to 2.588% from 2.606%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury was flat at 4.443%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were up as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index gained 2.5%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 3.9%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 0.5%.
