US Futures Down, European Stocks Mixed

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were down 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 declined 0.1% in morning trading. Orpea climbed 33.3% and Siemens rose 5.7%. On the other hand, HelloFresh sunk 20.3%, and Burberry Group slipped 9.7%. The FTSE 100 lost 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France’s CAC 40 decreased 0.2% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.4%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index climbed 0.1% to 99.14.

In commodities, Brent crude fell 1% to $80.34 a barrel, and WTI crude dropped 1.2% to $75.76 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield fell by 2 basis points to 2.62% from 2.645%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury declined by 2 basis points to 4.505% from 4.528%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were down as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined 0.3%, and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 1.4%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite dropped 0.7%.
