US Futures Mixed, European Stocks Up Ahead of Thanksgiving

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were flat and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.2% in morning trading. Sage Group added 7.2% and Thyssenkrupp rose 5.4%. On the other hand, Kingfisher slipped 6.3%, and MorphoSys lost 3.9%. The FTSE 100 added 0.1%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.3% and Germany’s DAX rose 0.3%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index rose 0.2% to 98.37.

In commodities, Brent crude rose 0.2% to $82.58 a barrel, and WTI crude climbed 0.1% to $77.88 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield climbed by 1 basis point to 2.584% from 2.571%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 1 basis point to 4.401% from 4.394%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan’s Nikkei 225 index climbed 0.3%, whereas Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was flat. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite fell 0.8%.
