U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.1% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.2%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.4% in morning trading. Uniper added 9.3% and MorphoSys rose 5.6%. On the other hand, Idorsia slipped 3.9%, and ams-OSRAM lost 2.6%. The FTSE 100 added 0.3%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France’s CAC 40 increased 0.5% and Germany’s DAX climbed 0.5%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index climbed 0.1% to 95.91.
In commodities, Brent crude gained 1.5% to $78.16 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 1.3% to $72.57 a barrel.
The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 8 basis points to 2.09% from 2.009%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 6 basis points to 3.939% from 3.881%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
Stocks in Asia were down. Markets in Japan were closed. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng declined 1.5%. China’s benchmark Shanghai Composite fell 0.4%.
